Pleasant Lea Forge

Pattern Welded Knife,
2007, hand-forged O1
and A36 steel, osage
orange, brass

The pattern exhibited in the blade, often referred to as "damascus",
is achieved by forge welding two or more alloys of steel together into
a solid billet. This is then repeatedly drawn out, folded in half, and
welded until hundreds of contrasting layers are produced.
